It
took Yellows about 20 minutes to shake off their hangover from the
narrow Cup final defeat to Helpringham.
From a Calum corner Lewis headed goalwards and his effort was saved
by the Ketton keeper only for the rebound to fall to Charlie Smith
who stroked the ball home.
This was the spur that Yellows needed and from then on it was business
as usual as they played some superb flowing football. Lewis added
the second with a great strike from just outside the box which gave
the hard working keeper no chance. A third was added just before the
break when Charlie fed the ball through for Adam to finish. After
the break it was again one way traffic which gave Yellows the chance
to give all their players some much needed time on the pitch. Charlie
netted his second and Yellows fourth before completing his hat-trick
and Yellows scoring a few minutes later.
Overall a good response to Thursday and once again the lads underlined
how much they have pulled together as a team this season.
Yellows
quickly established a four goal lead with an opener from Adam and
a hat-trick from Charlie. Cranwell defended very well for the rest
of the half to frustrate Yellows. An unfortunate own goal early in
the second half opened the floodgates for Gonerby. Man of the Match
Anthony was excellent on the right wing and his crosses led to five
of the seven second half goals. Adam completed a hat-trick and Charlie
added two more. The hard working Calum also scored a second half hat-trick.
Two
very strong defences gave away very little in this highly competitive
semi-final. The deadlock was broken when Adam reacted quickest in
a goalmouth scramble after 25 minutes to give Yellows the lead. Yellows
started the second half well and a fine finish from Adam increased
the lead. Blues then had their best spell of the game and only excellent
defending and a string of saves from Ross preserved the Yellows lead.
Blues finally pulled one back on the break but within 2 minutes Adam
completed his hat-trick with his best goal of the season. Dominic
was named the man of the match for a superb defensive display.
A
chilly morning saw some much needed time on the pitch for both teams
in this friendly match. Fielding a very different starting line-up
Yellows were soon dictating the pace and flow of the match against
a very spirited younger side. Charlie opened the scoring with an outstanding
individual effort and then added his second a few minutes later. Adam
then struck to send Yellows into the break three goals up. He then
completed a brace soon after the restart. Further goals from Rhys
and a fine effort from Man of the Match Ryan sealed a 6-0 victory
for Yellows. To their credit Blues kept going to the final whistle
and never dropped their heads. A mention must also go to those Yellows
squad players that came in and performed excellently.
Gonerby
opened the scoring after five minutes with a good strike from Anthony.
Yellows dominated the rest of the half and added further goals from
Adam, Elliot and two from Charlie. Yellows lost their shape after
the break and were forced to defend against a rejuvenated Rushcliffe.
Eagles deservedly pulled two goals back and only good defending and
solid goalkeeping from man of the match Ross preserved yellows lead.
Gonerby made the game safe in the final minute with an excellent move
and finish from Calum.
In
an exciting top of the table clash Yellows dominated the first half
but only one goal from Charlie to show for their effort. Helpringham
came out strongly after the break and scored two goals in a minute
to take the lead. The best passing move of the match saw Yellows equalise
with a cool finish from Adam. Ross in the Gonerby goal then made an
outstanding save to keep the scores level before Yellows were awarded
a free kick four minutes from time. From 30 yards Lewis planted a
superb strike in the top corner to give Yellows a deserved victory.
Man of the Match was Harry for an excellent performance in the centre
of defence.
Yellows
dominated early possession but failed to break down a spirited Croxton
defence it took a fine individual effort from Adam after 20 minutes
to finally break the deadlock. Gonerby then produced 15 minutes of
superb football which resulted in goals from Calum, Rhys, Lewis and
4 from Man of the Match Adam to give Yellows an 8 goal lead. Yellows
made changes at the break and added further goals from Dale and 2
from Charlie to complete the scoring.
Gonerby
were given very little space by a hard working Colsterworth team.
Colsterworth deservedly took the lead after 15 minutes with a fine
chip over the advancing keeper. With the strong wind at their backs
Gonerby finally started to get their passing game working and equalised
with a well taken goal by Connor. On the stoke of half time the best
move of the match saw Adam finish superbly to give Yellows the lead.
After the break Gonerby defended the lead competently with Man of
the Match Lewis controlling the game.
Gonerby
opened the scoring after five minutes with an excellent finish from
man of the match Adam. Three more well worked goals before half time
from Connor, Charlie and Calum were just reward for a fine team performance.
Bottesford continued to resist in the second half but Yellows added
further goals with a brace from Anthony and further goals from both
Connor and Adam. Calum completed his hat-trick with two clinical strikes
in the dying minutes.
Gonerby
progressed to the semi finals with an excellent performance against
a spirited Bottesford side. Elliot open-end the scoring after twenty
minutes with a near post strike. Lewis and Calum added two more before
the break. Gonerby dominated the second period and added further goals
from Connor, Bradley and two from the hard working Charlie. Man of
the Match was awarded to Calum for his strong midfield display.
Gonerby
produced their best display of the season to defeat third placed Ketton.
Fine passing moves lead to goals for Elliot Jubb, two for Adam Longland
and a brace for Calum McAndrew before the break. Yellows made four
changes in the second half but kept the pressure on the Ketton defence.
Further strikes came from Connor Young, Lewis Kettle, two from Charlie
Smith and McAndrew completed his hat-trick. Connor Young was deservedly
named Man of the Match.
Gonerby
dominated the opening 20 minutes but it was Cranwell who took the
lead with a well taken goal. The Cranwell keeper made a string of
fine saves before Charlie scored twice shortly before the break. Lewis
extended the lead with a stunning volley and this was followed up
by a well placed header from Calum. Connor completed the scoring following
a fine passing move. Domininc was Man of the Match.
Gonerby
created many chances but a superb goalkeeping display and resolute
defence resulted in a goal less first half. Against the run of play
Rushcliffe scored in the second half through an unfortunate own goal
by Anthony Davenport. Gonerby then laid siege to the Rushcliffe goal
and finally equalised with a fine finish from Adam. Two further goals
from man of the match Bradley and Lewis gave Gonerby a deserved advantage.
Rushcliffe pulled one back just before the final whistle.
Gonerby
produced an excellent electrifying display against a spirited Croxton
side. Yellows raced to a 7 - 0 half time lead with hat tricks from
Adam and Charlie and one from Elliot. Man of the match Anthony set
up four goals in the second half which saw Elliot complete his first
hat-trick for the club! Adam and Charlie both added one more with
Rhys scoring his first of the season with a well taken volley. Croxton
scored 2 well deserved goals on the break to make the final result
2 -12
Yellows
produced a superb first half performance and made the most of the
strong wind behind them. Goals from Adam, Calum, Harry, Connor and
2 from man of the match Charlie gave the Yellows a 6 - 0 half time
lead. Blues responded well in a very competitive second half scoring
3 well taken goals and a fourth from the penalty spot. The Yellows
continued to play excellent passing football and added further goals
from Adam and a brace for Charlie to complete the scoring.
Yellows
finally found their form and produced the football that they are capable
of with a blistering display against a strong Long Bennington team.
Yellows dominated both halves but only had one goal to show for it
at the break, Charlie finishing off a fine move with a good shot.
It was after the interval that Yellows really turned on the style
with excellently worked goals from Charlie again and Calum with his
first for Yellows. Lewis rounded the performance off with a superb
long range effort. Gonerby's defence and keeper were rarely called
on but when they were they coped with little trouble.
Gonerby
were unfortunate in this opening game of the league campaign. They
dominated the first half with a corner count of 10 - 1. However some
sloppy defending allowed Helpringham to finish the first half level
while chances were not converted by the Yellows. So at 2-2 at the
break Gonerby came out confidently in the 2nd period but again allowed
Helpringham through to take the lead. On a hot afternoon Gonerby pushed
on until Helpringham twice more broke away. A disappointing scoreline
but hopefully the yellows will put it right in the upcoming fixtures.
