Gonerby Blues
finished the season with a narrow defeat at Cranwell.
The game started
as it finished with both sides battling hard for control.
In a tight 1st
quarter both sides created chances with Gonerby almost scoring when
a Cranwell defender headed over his own "keeper and onto the
post.
In the 2nd quarter
the home side scored with a fine long range effort which gave the
Gonerby goalie no chance.
Gonerby kept
going and created several chances as Ben Meadows, Mark Cornish and
Jack Howard all had efforts on the Harriers goal.
The 3rd quarter
followed the same pattern until the home side doubled the lead following
a scramble in the box.
Gonerby battled
hard and Harry Walker, Ben Meadows, Jack Howard and Brad Butterworth
tested the Cranwell goalie.
Right at the
end of the game Ben Meadows crossed for Jack Howard to steer the
ball home for a consolation goal.
This was the
least Gonerby Blues deserved in a hard fought but sporting game.
The whole Gonerby
team worked hard and defenders Toby Bonnefin and James Allsebrook
shared the man-of-the-match award for some excellent work at the
back.

Gonerby went
down to defeat against a strong well organised Bourne team at the
Kings School. Gonerby Blues in there last home game of the season
were pushed back from the start by the determined visitors. Only
good defending by Gonerby kept Bourne at bay as the 1st half passed
goal-less.
Gonerby
gradually improved in the second part of the game and pushed the
visitors back. However Bourne then counter attacked and opened the
scoring after a scramble in the penalty box.
Gonerby kept
going but were again caught out as the visitors doubled there lead.
In the final
quarter Gonerby carved out several chances but failed to take them
and were made to pay as Bourne scored twice more to end the scoring.
Man-of-the-match
for Gonerby was Ben Meadows for a hard working display in mid-field.

Bingham Blues
took the lead through a well taken goal towards the end of the first
quarter. A good passing move ended with Jack Howard slotting home
the equaliser for Gonerby in the second quarter. The match remained
evenly balanced with good moves from both sides until Bingham broke
the deadlock with a late winner at the end of the final quarter.
Gonerby Man of the Match was James Allsebrook for his assured display
in defence.

The Blues continued
there good recent form with a fine win away to local rivals Rushcliffe.
The
1st quarter was competitive with both sides battling for control
and finished goalless. The 2nd quarter followed a similar pattern
until late on when after some neat passing Harry Walker broke into
the penalty box and was fouled. Harry picked himself up and fired
the ball into the roof of the net to give Blues the lead.
Early in the
3rd quarter Rushcliffe drew level with a scrambled effort. Blues
heads did not drop however as Jack Howard stormed through to score
and restore Gonerby’s lead. Minutes later after another passing
move Jack Howard rifled in his second goal to extend Blues lead.
Jack Hardy then marked his farewell game before moving to Australia
with a fine strike to put the icing on the cake for Gonerby. Rushcliffe
then scored a 2nd consolation goal to finish the scoring.
Callum Parker
claimed the man-of-the-match award for an excellent goalkeeping
display and the whole team gave a fine performance.

Gonerby Blues
finally got their second win of the season after an inspired performance.
The
team, who only had seven players, took control early on and after
persistent pressure on the Pointon goal were rewarded with a goal
from Man of the Match Mark Cornish.
After some more
flowing passing football Gonerby extended their lead with a well
taken goal from Harry walker.
Pointon rallied
briefly and were gifted a way back into the game when Keeper Callum
Parker made a mistake which was punished by Pointon.
Pointon’s threat
was brief though and Gonerby deservedly extended there lead with
further goals from Harry walker who went on to complete his hatrick,
Bradley Butterworth who scored twice and a superbly taken free kick
from midfielder Ben Meadows which completed an excellent all round
performance.

Croxton took
the lead early in the 2nd quarter but Gonerby quickly equalised
with a well taken goal by Bradley Butterworth. Croxton scored twice
more to lead 3 -1 at half time. Croxton extended their lead to 4-1
in the 3rd quarter before Jack Hardy pulled one back one minute
later to top off his man of the match performance. Good work in
midfield by Jack Howard and Callum Parker helped to keep Gonerby
in the match until Croxton scored a 5th in the last quarter.

Gonerby produced
their best display of the season to date to share the points at
high-flying Aslockton.
On a
bumpy pitch both sides battled hard to control the game. There were
few chances in the 1st half with Harry Walker firing over with a
long range effort and Brad Butterworth shooting wide for Blues.
The 2nd half
continued with Gonerby passing the ball well and starting to create
some good chances. Brad Butterworth twice forced the home keeper
into good saves as confidence grew with the visitors. Ben Meadows
and Harry Walker further tested the Aslockton goalie in trying to
open the scoring.
At the other
end the hosts carved out several chances but were thwarted by a
determined Blues defence. Both teams eventually had to settle for
a share of the spoils which was a fair result.
Jack Hardy when
called on made some brave saves in goal. Callum Parker put in captains
performance at the back. Ben Meadows ran and tackled well all game;
Harry Walker covered every blade of grass. Mark Cornish battled
well in mid-field. Chay Strudwick came on for the 2nd half and gave
an energetic display down the left-wing. Brad Butterworth worked
hard and was unlucky not to get on the score-sheet. Man-of-the-match
was Toby Bonnefin for an excellent display in defence.
The whole team
performed well in a display that should give Blues confidence for
the 2nd half of the season.

4 goals conceded
in the 1st quarter ended Blues cup interest for the season.
Ponton
pushed forward straight from kick off and were rewarded with a goal
in the 1st minute of the game. Three more goals including an unfortunate
own goal left Gonerby with a mountain to climb.
Blues kept battling
though showing good team spirit trying to get back into the game.
They were up against a strong well organised Great Ponton and also
“up the slope “in the second half of the game.
Only 1 more
goal was scored in the remaining three quarters of a hard fought
but sporting encounter. Jack Hardy made some fine saves in goal,
James Allsebrook battled at the back, Ben Meadows and Harry Walker
tried to get things going in mid-field and Brad Butterworth battled
up front, man of the match was skipper Callum Parker for a sound
defensive performance.

Despite a much
improved display Blues went down to a defeat at Bourne.
The
1st quarter was hard fought with Blues more than matching their
opponents and finished goalless. The 2nd quarter continued in the
same vein until following a Bourne corner the home side was awarded
a penalty for an instinctive hand ball. Despite a fine attempt from
keeper Callum Parker getting a hand to the ball the shot still found
the net to give Bourne the lead.
The hosts then
increased their lead with two more long range efforts to give them
a 3-0 advantage into half-time which was harsh on a spirited Gonerby
side.
Blues made changes
for the second half of the game and tried to get back into the game.
However Bourne caught out Blues defence to score a fourth goal with
a good header from a corner.
The home side
then added a fifth goal with a scrambled effort. Straight from kick-off
Harry Walker fired in a great shot from the half-way line which
the Bourne keeper pushed over the bar. From the resulting corner
Ben Meadows flicked the ball into the corner for a fine goal to
give Blues some consolation.

Parker performed well in goal, as did James Allsebrook and Brad
Butterworth in defence. Mark Cornish and Harry Walker worked hard
in mid-field, man-of-the-match was Ben Meadows for a hard working
display capped with a fine goal.

Blues paid heavily
for defensive errors as Cranwell chalked up a first win of the season.
In blustery
conditions with heavy rain both sides battled to take control. Cranwell
cashed in as the blues defence went awol to score in the 1st quarter.
Gonerby tried
to get back into the game but more sloppiness in defence was punished
as the Harriers struck twice more before half-time.
Blues started
the second part of the game much better and began to put pressure
on the Cranwell defence.Gonerby kept pressing and carved out several
chances but did not take them and payed the price as Harriers broke
through twice more.
Man of the match
for the Blues was Jack Hardy.

The Blues went
down to a very heavy defeat against a powerful well drilled Cranwell
outfit. Attacking with a blustery wind, Cranwell forced Gonerby
back straight from the kick-off.
Cranwell
scored with barely a minute on the clock and added 3 more goals
in the 1st and 2nd quarters to take control of the game.
Blues shuffled
the team in an attempt to get back into the game but were again
soon on the back-foot as the Tornados stormed forward.
Cranwell rattled
in six more goals in the 3rd and 4th quarters despite some stout
defending and heroic goalkeeping by Jack Hardy.
Man of the match
was skipper Jack Hardy for a string of fine saves in the face of
wave after wave of attacks.

Gonerby Blues
eventually went down to defeat in a hard fought game at Bingham.
Blues
gave debuts to James Allsebrook and Chay Strudwick who both gave
excellent performances.
The 1st quarter
was even with both sides testing out each others defence. Harry
Walker and Brad Butterworth both had efforts well saved by the Bingham
"keeper.
Bingham broke
the deadlock late on in the 2nd quarter with a long range effort.
Brad Butterworth
then broke clear of the home defence but the Bingham goalie came
out to clear the danger.
Gonerby made
some changes in an effort to get back into the game but got caught
up-field as Bingham scored a second goal. Jack Howard got through
in the box but his shot re-bounded back off the post to safety.
Bingham scored
again in both the 3rd and 4th quarters but the scoreline was harsh
on the battling Blues. Everyone gave 100% in a good team effort,
man of the match was Harry Walker for an all action display in mid-field.

The first two quarters were even with both sides looking for an
opening.
Rushcliffe
eventually took the lead but the Blues did not let their heads drop.
As Gonerby committed
more men forward they were caught on the break twice by Rushcliffe.
Two more goals
were added to the score line as the Blues tired towards the end
of the game.

Gonerby Blues
went down to a narrow defeat in a scrappy encounter at Pointon.
In a game mainly played in midfield Gonerby eventually carved out
an opening with Jack Howard firing over the bar.
The
Blues, now passing the ball better, twice broke through with Bradley
Butterworth setting up Jack Howard testing the Pointon keeper.
In the last
quarter Pointon broke away twice to score against the run of play.
After a crazy scramble in the Pointon box Ben Meadows stabbed the
ball home to set up a grandstand finish.
Looking for
the equaliser, the Blues ran out of time and paid the price for
not converting several earlier chances.

won Man of the Match for a good performance in midfield.

An Under strength
Blues team went down to a heavy defeat against a very well organised
Great Ponton side. Almost straight away from kick-off Ponton broke
through to score.
The
Blues then tried to get their game together and steady things up.
At the end of
the first quarter Ponton got through to double their lead.
In the second
quarter Ponton added to more goals and the Blues had to start the
third quarter with only six players due to an injury to Jack Howard.
Two more goals
were scored in the third quarter despite some fine goalkeeping from
Callum Parker.
Great Ponton
added one more goal in the final quarter as the Blues fought a rear-guard
action.
Ben Meadows
and Jack Hardy kept battling in mid field as did Bradley Butterworth
and Ted Bebbington at the back.
Man of the Match
was Callum Parker for a Captain’s performance in goal.

An excellent team performance by the Blues secured
a good win in an entertaining game at Croxton Kerrial. In a Keenly
contested first quarter the Blues scored the first goal on 12 minutes.
Ben Meadows battled hard to win the ball setting Bradley Butterworth
through to score with a cool finish. The second quarter was again
an even contest with Callum Parker scoring following a corner.
The
third quarter started with the Blues now playing up the ‘slope’.
After some good battling in mid field by Jack Hardy and Ben Meadows,
Callum Parker forced the ball home for his second goal of the game.
Croxton battled back and scored to make the score 3-1.
The fourth quarter
started with Bradley having a shot well saved by the Croxton keeper.
Ben Meadows then broke clear to fire home his first goal of the
season to make the score 4-1 for the Blues. After more chances to
add to the tally Harry Walker then produced some ‘Beckham Like’
magic to fire home from just inside his own half-way line.
The whole team
worked hard and the ‘Man of the Match’ award went to Toby Bonnefin
for an excellent performance at the heart of the blues defence.

A depleted Gonerby
side down to a minimum squad size of seven were eventually overwhelmed
by a strong Aslockton side. In the first half Gonerby battled hard
but reached half time 2-0 down despite some determined defensive
work.
At the start of the second half Ben Meadows battled hard to win
the ball and passed to Jack Howard who then crossed for Bradley
Butterworth to steer the ball home for a 2-1 score.
Aslockton then used their full compliment of substitutes to stretch
a now tiring Gonerby side. Another seven goals were fired in despite
heroic defending.
Ted Bebbington and Toby Bonnefin battled gamely in defence, but
star man was Captain Callum Parker in goal who, despite the score,
pulled off some fine saves.

Bradley Butterworth for the Under 10’s finished
off a good move involving Harry Walker and Jack Howard to score
the 1st goal of the game in 7 minutes!
Gonerby
under 9's then equalised with a long range shot. They then took
the lead after a defensive mix up.
Following good
passing between Bradley and Ben Meadows, Jack Howard broke through
to level up the score again. After another good passing move Bradley
released Ben Meadows down the wing to cross for Jack Howard to fire
home his second goal!
The under 9's
rallied once again and levelled up the score. With the game evenly
balanced Joe Rogers who played most of the game in goal, in an emergency
striking role broke through to score the winning goal. Everyone
played their part in a good team display with Ben Meadows winning
the 'Man of the Match' award for his hard work in midfield.
