The Blues
final game of the season saw them facing the league leaders who
were chasing the win for the league title and for the Blues it
was a measure of their first season and the improvement that has
been made.
The Yellows started
brightly and caught the Blues defence sleeping to open the scoring
with a lovely shot from just outside the box. This seemed to waken
the Blues and they started playing football, soaking up the Yellow’s
pressure and looking to create chances of their own. The equaliser
was brought about by a lovely Blues move which found Jamie Gowan
free on the left wing who put an inch perfect cross to Ricardo
Alves who drove his shot past the Yellow’s keeper to bring the
scores level.
The second quarter
began as the first with the yellow’s pushing on and trying to
break down the blues stubborn midfield and defence which they
eventually did to once again take the lead. More hard work from
the Blue’s saw Daniel Fielding drive yet another fierce shot through
the yellow’s defence and past the keeper to again bring the scores
level at 2-2.
The third quarter saw
the Blues work incredibly hard to keep out the yellow’s who created
some great chances forcing saves from Lewis Gullick and great
blocks from the blues defenders Joseph Wakerley & Tom Sellars.
The game again turned with the Blues trying to create chances
of their own looking to pass the ball through and put some pressure
on the opposition with Jamie Gowan continuing to work from box
to box. A corner was won and another fantastic delivery from Ricardo
Alves found its way through to Daniel Fielding who made no mistake
from inside the box to take the Blue’s into the lead at 3-2. The
whole Blues team worked hard to keep out the yellows attack that
was pushing forward with real menace with Lewis Gullick again
saving on the line to keep the Blues in front.
The last quarter saw
the best defensive display of the Blue’s season who all worked
tirelessly to prevent the yellows from drawing level. There were
more great saves from Lewis Gullick and the midfield dropped back
to help out with Braden Wakerley, Ricardo Alves and Jamie Gowan
all working hard to deny the yellows the flowing football they
usually play and Daniel Fielding lurking menacingly keeping the
yellows defence from pushing forward. The last few minutes saw
the yellows win a corner but the Blues stayed strong to record
a brilliant win over the league leaders forcing them to keep the
champagne on ice for a while longer!!! The man of the match award
went to the whole squad for the hard work they have put in to
achieve this result.
Team: Lewis Gullick, Braden Wakerley, Tom Sellars, Braden Wakerley,
Jamie Gowan, Daniel Fielding, Ricardo Alves, Callum Boyle, Elliot
Turner, Duarte Amarel de Almedia, Nathan Betts.
Finally a massive thank
you for all the support and the effort that has been put in throughout
the season. Bring on the 08/09 season and what we can achieve!!

Cranwell started
the livelier and the Blues took their time to get into the game
but once alive they created many a chance. Braden WAKERLEY slipped
through the defence and added to his goal tally with a shot to
the left corner. Both sides then had several chances from corners
but neither side could score. In a tense final ten minutes Cranwell
pushed forward but a superb save from man of the match goalkeeper
Lewis GULLICK saved the day for the blues and they ended up with
a well deserved three points for their defending.

With a very
strong wind to contend with Blues dominated the first half and
were rewarded with a goal from man of the match Ricardo ALVES.
Second half Braden WAKERLEY continued his goal scoring run with
a shot from a difficult angle into the bottom corner. Goalkeeper
Lewis GULLICK played a great game in goal and the defence stood
strong to keep Navenby at bay. Navenby managed to score an own
goal from a corner but the defender Joseph WAKERLEY more than
made up for this with a series of strong tackles keeping the Blues
in front. A great team performance which saw many players working
as a team. Duarte ALMEIDA, Tom SELLARS, Jamie GOWEN, all played
with great credit and strength throughout the match. The effort
made left the manager and Blues supporters leaving with a smile
on their faces. Best performance of the season. WELL DONE!

started off strongly and were rewarded with a goal just before
half time when Daniel FIELDING hit the back of the net. Blues
continued to push forward throughout and then a wonder goal worked
from a corner put in by Ricardo ALVES saw Braden WAKERLEY rise
above everybody and with a powerful header hit straight into the
top corner leaving Pontons keeper stranded. A very pleasing performance
saw the Blues take revenge for their earlier defeat at Ponton.

home ground. A strong flames team took the lead in the first half
with a well worked goal. Gonerby put in some strong tackles and
again keeper Elliot TURNER kept them in the game with a series
of saves. In the second half Gonerby took over and a cracking
move and pass by Ricardo ALVES put Daniel FIELDING clear to score
with a strong shot to the bottom left corner. A special mention
to Jamie GOWEN for his man of the match performance putting in
strong tackles and working tirelessly throughout the match. Well

Gonerby Blues
returned after their christmas a little rusty for the first 10
minutes and went behind by a goal. In the 2nd quarter they galvanised
themselves and started playing as a team but Bottesford held firm.
In the 2nd half Braden WAKERLEY scored a well deserved equaliser,
then completed the game with a further goal.
Bottesford came back but just failed to get an equaliser. A very
entertaining game for both sets of fans. A better performance
by Gonerby Blues, resulted in an unprecedented award for man of
the match being given to the whole team.

a simple tap in to level the scores. Lewis GULLICK foiled a further
attempt tracking back and putting off the centre forward. A much
improved performance by Gonerby.

A strong Navenby

felt scoring 4 goals quickly. Gonerby then sorted themselves out
and started to gel as a team. A penalty was awarded when Jamie

the referee in no doubt. Up stepped Ricardo ALVES with a powerful
shot nearly taking out the net to get the side into action. A
little later Lewis GULLICK added a second after a goalmouth scramble.
Strong defending by eventual man of the match Braden WAKERLEY
helped keep Navenby at bay. Keeper Joseph WAKERLEY played an exceptional
first game stopping many a chance from the visitors. Navenby ended
with a goal to secure the win but Gonerby must take heart from

Tom Sellers, Lewis Gullick and Ricardo Alves. A superb solo goal
from Jamie Gowen brought Gonerby back into contention, but Ponton
took hold of the latter stages of the game, notching up a further
five goals to eventually run out deserved 7-2 winners.
